Source of US Oil Imports

According to the US Department of Energy the U.S. uses about 21 million barrels of oil per day. We import about 58% of it. Contrary to the "blood for oil" crowd the majority of it does not come from the Middle East. Here’s where we get the oil.

Canada 11%
Mexico 11%
Saudi Arabia 9%
Venezuela 8%
Nigeria 7%
Iraq 4%
25 other countries 8%
Most people don't realize that we get more oil from Canada or Mexico than we do from Saudi Arabia. Not that we don't have a vested interest in oil from the Middle East but ....

I'm Just Saying - if we wanted to start a war over oil it would have been a lot cheaper to invade Canada!
